All-in-one tank-mounted compressed air systems — which include a compressor, dryer, and air tank in one compact footprint — are a practical and convenient solution for compressed air systems up to 30HP. However, in hot and humid weather, these standard packages may leave air wetter than it should be. What’s the solution? PneuTech now has a high-temp compressed air package made especially for hot and steamy conditions. With an oversize dryer and pre-filtration, this tank-mounted compressor system ensures clean, dry compressed air even in the heat.
It's the Heat. And the Humidity
Hot, humid conditions put extra strain on your compressed air system. As temperatures rise, air can hold more moisture (humidity). That means more water vapor is coming into the compressed air system. The wetter the air coming in, the harder the dryer has to work to remove it.
If you’re operating at high ambient temperatures — above 90°F — a standard-size refrigerated dryer is likely to leave your air wetter than it should be. It is also more likely to fail due to the extra load on the system. In addition to excess moisture, the dryer also has to contend with excess heat. Hotter air coming into the compressor means hotter air going out, resulting in higher inlet temperatures at the dryer. That means the dryer has to do more work and use more energy, to cool the air down to the necessary levels to achieve the desired dew point. If the dryer isn’t sized appropriately, it will not be able to manage the extra load.
That’s a problem for air-using processes that rely on dry, clean compressed air. Many facilities start seeing excess moisture in their compressed air supply in the summertime. In addition to causing corrosion in the compressed air system and air-using tools, this can create serious issues for moisture-sensitive processes and applications.
When operating a compressed air system in high ambient temperatures, a larger dryer is recommended. Depending on conditions, the dryer may need to be as much as twice the size of a dryer recommended under standard operating conditions.
The High-Temperature Package from PneuTech
That’s why PneuTech developed the high-temperature compressed air package. This package gives compressed air users the convenience of an all-in-one system, with an oversized dryer to compensate for high ambient temperatures. It is the only ready-to-go, all-in-one system designed for high heat and humidity.
The base package includes:
- An RK rotary screw compressor (5HP – 30HP)
- A wet tank
- An RDA non-cycling refrigerated dryer
- A 1 micron pre-filter
Here’s how the high-temp package differs from our standard all-in-one package:
- Oversize dryer: Up to 2x the size of the dryer used in our standard package, depending on expected operating conditions.
- Pre-filter: The one-micron pre-filter removes some of the excess moisture from the air coming out of the compressor before it hits the dryer, reducing the load on the dryer and protecting the dryer warranty.
With an oversize dryer, the system is ready to handle the heat (and the humidity), ensuring a consistent supply of cool, dry air through the summer months.
All-in-One, but Not One for All
At PneuTech, we know that one standard package does not fit all environments. That’s why our all-in-one compressed air systems are customizable to suit your needs. Get a bigger dryer. Add pre- or post-filtration. Choose a timer or zero-loss drain. Install a three-valve bypass system. It’s all the convenience of a complete compressor package, tailored just for you.
All-in-one tank-mounted compressor packages are convenient, space-saving, and easy to install — just set it up and plug it in. And all our compressor packages come with the Pneu-Assure no-hassle warranty. That means you’re covered for five years for major components on both the compressor and the dryer.
